Musicians’ Emergency Fund - COVID-19 Pandemic 2020
In response to the current crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Local’s Musicians’ Emergency Fund (MEF) will be accessible to our members. The funds are intended to assist those members in need of emergency financial assistance as a result of lost work and wages caused by the provincial state of emergency requirements.
While the funds are limited* and are a one-time offering specific to the COVID-19 pandemic, we encourage those members who meet the criteria to apply. Please refer to the Application Process. We hope that this nominal assistance will help with purchasing essentials such as groceries, medications and rent. We do greatly appreciate those of our members who can manage without seeking this assistance so that other members who are in dire need can have access to these limited funds.
Application Process:
AFM Local 571 has set up an external MEF Trustee Committee to oversee the applications, approvals, dispersals and reporting of MEFs. All applications are confidential to the external MEF Trustee Committee.
Members requiring assistance should complete the application, and submit to the MEF Trustee Committee via email to: [email protected]
Each grant is $200.
Applicant Criteria:
You must be a member in good-standing
You are not eligible for CERB or other federal/provincial assistance
Please note if there are extenuating circumstances, please provide a brief description to the MEF Trustee Committee
* As funds are limited, we encourage our members to apply asap.
